Abstract

26,629. Petrini, E. Nov. 28. Candles.-Apparatus for making sealing-wax candles of the kind provided with a wick, comprises a frame 3, to which are pivoted the two .halves 1, 2 of the mould, and a vertically reciprocating frame 5 carrying narrow metal cores 6, which occupy the full length of the moulds during casting. The cores 6 are provided at their upper ends with gripping-tongs 7, which, at the beginning of the downward movement of the cores, pass through fixed forks on the mould and are thus caused to grip the wicks 8, which they draw through the candles. The cores may be withdrawn while the sealing-wax is still plastic, in which case they are preferably greased in advance by felt disks at the bottom of the mould, or they may be withdrawn after the sealing-wax is set, in which case they are first released from the wax by a rotary movement. To effect this rotary movement, the rack-bar 18, by means of which the frame 5 is lowered, is connected to a lever 15 adapted to actuate a slide 14 engaging pins 12 on the cores. A knife is attached to the top of the mould to sever the wicks.
