Cleaning externally.-Apparatus for cleaning the exteriors of tubes comprises a rotating head through which the tube is moved, carrying cleaning-rollers resiliently pressed against the tube. A rotating head 1, preferably mounted in ball bearings and driven by a belt 3, has cleaning-rollers 6 carried by levers 4 pivoted inside the head. The cleaners may be resiliently pressed against the tube 8 by the centrifugal action of weights 7 or by springs. The movement of the tube through the device is obtained by a clamp 15 gripping the tube and moved by a chain 13. Instead, feed-rollers gripping the tube may be driven through suitable bevel-gear, or the rollers 6 may be obliquely mounted, so as to feed the tube as the head 1 rotates. Dust is carried off through a fixed channel 11, by water or by suction. The apparatus mav be arranged so that the tube 8 is vertical, and may be provided with guides engaging the tube at two points, to adapt the device to clean curved tubes.
