Abstract

26,019. Hahnle, C. Kurtz-. Nov. 21. Pulp, preparation of.-In removing ink or colour from old paper in the production of pulp, the paper is soaked with diluted lye, preferably a solution of sodium peroxide or of a peroxide of an alkaline earth such as magnesium peroxide, then delivered by a sieve c, Fig. 1, through light pressure rolls e, f, g, h, which squeeze out the superfluous liquid, to a rotating screw conveyer m, Fig. 3, the pitch of which decreases towards its upper end. This conveyer carries the material over perforations n through which the squeezed-out liquor drains. The mass is then mixed with water and reduced to fibres by agitation, after which it is carried on a sieve c, Fig. 2, under sprinklers p which wash away the impurities. Any construction of agitating-apparatus may be used, but that described in Specification 24,372/10 is particularly suitable.
