Buffers; draw-gear. - To prevent injury to the automatic coupler - head of a central buffer coupling when, for example, the locking-bolt of the engaging head has not been withdrawn, each coupling-head 13 is mounted to slide on its draw-bar against the action of a weak spring 21 until the ends 12 of the drawbars come into contact. Lateral extensions 18 of the head 13 move in guiding-slots 19 in members 20 bolted to a cross-piece 11 on the draw-bar 1. The draw-bar is pivoted to a rod 3 around which is arranged the buffer and draw spring 4 between plates 5, 6 bearing against a shoulder 8 and a nut 7 respectively on the rod 3, and between stops 9, 10 respectively on the vehicle frame.
