Abstract

[Cognate Application, 26,924/ 11.] Spokes, securing and adjusting. - Tubular spokes 2, Fig. 3, pass through holes in a felloe ring 5, and bear against the inner periphery of the rim 1, and at their inner ends bear against a hub ring 3, and are spaced by correspondinglyshaped plates 4, and are adjusted as regards compression by rods 13 countersunk in the rim and tightened by nuts 15. Each of the tubular compression spokes may enclose two rods 17, Fig. 8, the adjusting-nipples 18, 20 of which may be arranged to provide the means for spacing the spokes. The nave of the wheel comprises two plates 7, with peripheral flanges suitably recessed to embrace the spokes and held together by bolts 11. The abutting edges of the flanges may be welded.
