Abstract
23,766. Matthews, E. Oct. 27. Lacing-fastenings.-Relates to fastenings in which a number of loops are arranged along each flap of the boot, through which loops the lace is threaded so that the mere act of pulling tightens the lace, which can then be tied in the usual way. According to the invention, each of the fastenings consists of a double loop of wire, forming a figure of eight, the plane of one loop being either in the same plane as, or at right-angles to, the plane of the other loop. When the loops are at right-angles, as shown in Fig. 2, the fastening is attached to the boot by bending the flange of the ordinary eyelet over the loop a; while when the loops are in the same plane, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, one loop is passed through the ordinary eyelet. In each case the other loop serves for the passage of the lace.
