Ornamenting.-Consists in producing on glass a design, partly translucent and partly transparent, by applying two coatings, the first of which is translucent, but becomes transparent at the parts where the second coating is applied. The translucent coating may be produced by a solution of cellulose, or of gums, resins, or similar substances, and the clear varnish may be a solution of cellulose in acetone and amyl acetate. In a modification, parts of the translucent coating are removed before the clear varnish is applied; in a further modification, the clear varnish is applied first.
