Doubles, preventing. - In spinning, doubling and like machines, broken ends are picked up by a rotating shaft g mounted in bearings on a support b carried by the roller stand of the machine ; the shaft is in proximity to a plate a hinged to the support b and having slots a<1> surrounding the upper ends of the back row of spindles and openings a<2> projecting towards the front row of spindles when two rows are employed. The plate a prevents upward currents of air generated by the flyers or the like from influencing the broken ends, and pegs or hooks h thereon assist the thread or yarn f, when broken, into engagement with the rotating shaft g.
