Abstract

Actuating.-In apparatus for operating valves intermittently, of the kind in which water &c. is fed into a balanced pivoted receptacle such as e, which tilts automatically at intervals and discharges its contents into a second receptacle arranged to operate the valve, the second receptacle c is arranged to rotate the valve into each of a number of consecutive positions and is operatively connected thereto by means of a lever b and ratchet mechanism h, i, or other free-wheel mechanism. The receptacle c is carried by one end of the lever b, the other end carrying a counterweight d normally to maintain the vessel c in the raised position. An outlet g is provided in the vessel c. The lever b may be coupled to the free-wheel mechanism through a chain k and sprocket-wheels l, or in any other suitable manner.
