Abstract
22,172. Wilkinson, W. P. April 2, 1912. Composite and pneumatic springs; connexions and attachments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs.-Relates to pneumatic cushioning-devices for road vehicles in which an air cushion 5 is located between upper and lower retaining-members 6, 6<a> connected with the laminated spring 4 or frame member 2 and the axle 3, respectively, the air cushion being connected by a flexible tube 8 with a compressedair reservoir. According to the invention, guide - rods 7 depending from the spring or frame and bearing on the upper cap 6 through collars 7a support the weight of the vehicle, and guide-rods 17 depending from the axle 3 support the lower cap 6<a>. The rods 7, 17 are guided in apertures in the caps 6, 6<a>. Flanges 10 on the cushions 5 prevent contact of the caps 6, 6<a>.
