Abstract

22,049. Egndr, C. E., and Holmstr÷m, J. G. Oct. 6. Microphones. - In a microphone, stationary electrodes, such as 3, 4 project through holes in a spring-pressed disk 2 of mica or aluminium. The tension of the springs 10, which bear against the disk 2, can be adjusted by nuts 11 on screws 9. The granular carbon 16 for each stationary electrode is contained within a ring 12 of felt or asbestos against which the diaphragm 15 or an electrode bears. Rings 13, 14 of felt or asbestos, with an aluminium ring 17 of angle-section between them, are interposed between the ring 12 and plate 2. A chamber 8 containing liquid is provided between the stationary electrodes for cooling purposes, and the electrodes are insulated from the casing 7 by washers 19.
