Abstract

21,906. Buffulini, V., and Rottenbacher, R. Oct. 4. Buoy signals. - A buoy for indicating the position of a sunken submarine or other vessel is detachably connected to the deck of the vessel. A compartment carries a drum 13 of insulating- material having two insulated metal disks at each end. This drum carries a cable of four insulated conductors, one pair of which is connected through the disks and brushes 18<1> to an electric lamp 17, which is mounted at the top of the buoy and provided with lenses 6. The other end of the cable passes to the interior of the vessel, where the lighting circuit is connected to a battery 25 through a time switch 26 and a switch 23, which is automatically closed when the buoy rises by means of a spring- pressed rod 20 connected to a lever 21 connected to the switch 23. The lamp is stated to be applicable to signalling.
