Abstract
21,230. Cornfield, N. Aug. 10, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with non - rotating resilient members between axle and wheel. - The road rim 1, Figs. 1 and 2, rotates upon rollers 2 mounted on a non- rotary member 3 of relatively large diameter. A disk 4 secured to one side of the rim is bolted to a hub 5 connected by a universal joint 19 to a driving-shaft 7 passing centrally through a tubular casing 8. Roller bearings are fitted between the shaft and casing. The universal joint consists of a V- shaped lever 19 pivoted centrally to the hub and centrally to the hub and formed in its ends with slots which engage ballheads on arms 9 fixed to the shaft. The nourotary member consists of a block 10 fixed to the casing and fitted with radial arms 11 which extend into slots in an annular outer member 3. Springs surround the arms and bear against the sides of the slots. A. disk 13 closing the other side of the wheel bears against felt packing 14 in a plate fixed on the casing.
