The inner ends of the springs are secured to a ring e<2> loosely mounted on a flanged collar e' rigid on the huh and retained by the collar e<3> and set screws e<4> The outer edge of the mud-guard may be rolled, as at g, Fig. 5, and the inner edge formed with an outwardly-extending flange i; or the guard may be mounted on a channel-shaped ring. In a further modification, the guard j, Fig. 7, may be of rubber or other flexible material attached to the coned metal ring a.
