Clutches, friction. - In double-acting plate clutches, the central plate B slides on a key B2, its motion being checked by a friction plunger B' in order to ensure disengagement of the plates when the outer plates D, D<1> are withdrawn. Springs E keep the clutch in engagement and the plates D, D<1> are withdrawn simultaneously by movement of a sleeve H on the plate D<1>, pivoted levers G conveying the motion to lugs D<2> on the plates D.
