Steam-generator furnaces; baffles.-To prevent damage to the tube-plates of multi-tubular boilers, the furnace gases are caused to rise into a chamber i, into which the fire-bridge d projects, and then to pass under a hanging bridge h into a combustion space g, before entering the tubes. The setting is arranged to cause the gases to pass forward and back under the boiler after leaving the tubes. Locomotive and marine boilers may be fitted with the arrangement of bridges and combustion space.
