Abstract

14,260. Parkhurst, S.W. Jan. 12, 1912. Direct gas-pressure apparatus, non-automatic. -In order to draw off their contents, casks, barrels, and like containers are provided with a cylinder of compressed gas located within the vessel and screwed into a bush 3, Fig. 2, carried by an outer bush 2. The valve of the gas cylinder is depressed by a plunger 7 forced down by means of a removable lever, the end of which is received by a ridge or groove 9 in a third bush 6. The bush 3 may be secured by a bayonet-joint, and a rubber ring may be employed between it and the outer bush. The plunger may be hollow and fitted with a safetyvalve consisting of a spring-pressed ball, the spring being adjusted by means of a screw-cap. The plunger may be operated from a distance by means of another plunger 33, Fig. 8, forced down by the admission of air from a compressedair reservoir 29, an air tap 32 being placed in close proximity to the liquid outlet tap 27.
