Lids and covers.-A box, bottle, or like receptacle made of paper or similar material is closed by a dished lid c, which is coated with paraffin and has its flange d secured to the top of the receptacle by means of a heated tool, which melts the paraffin and produces an airtight joint. To. prevent removal of the lid without rupturing the material, the lower part of the dished portion is expanded within the receptacle, as indicated in dotted lines. The lid c is covered by a seal secured to the top of the receptacle.
