Abstract
11,547. Middleditch, H. A. W., and Fenn, W. B. May 12. Incrustation, preventing.-Relates to apparatus, such as that described in Specification 24,681/03, in which solid de-incrustant is liquefied by steam and added to the feed-water. The solid de-incrustant is contained in a perforated cylinder g, and, when liquefied by steam from a perforated pipe s, falls into a tray t and thence flows through a passage p to chambers n, where it meets the feed-water. The chambers m are connected by pipes l surrounded by hotwater, which flows through a jacket enclosing the apparatus. The cylinder y is divided by longitudinal and transverse partitions, and can be turned by means of a handle w to bring the different compartments opposite to the pipe s.
