Abstract
11,139. Deperdusain, A. J. A. Nov. 29, 1910. Aerial machines without aerostats; shock of landing, deadening. - In a monoplane flying- machine, the lattice girder frame A is cut away at its front lower part to accommodate the aviator, the motor, and accessories, and this part is strengthened by a detachable hull B consisting of sheets of wood or metal laid upon ribs. A tail-piece and rudder are carried at the rear by the girder, as described in Specification 27,792/10. The body is supported at the front by an undercarriage having two protecting- crutches A<2> forming the diagonals of rigid quadrilaterals comprising the girder A, uprights C, D, and skids E. The uprights C, D are provided with collars c which engage with bolts on the hull. The collars also clamp to the uprights cables c' passing under the hull and engaging a groove in the top of the uprights. Wheels F are mounted on an axle G, connected to the skids E by elastic members g<3> and radius rods g. The elastic members g<3>, Fig. 5, are pinned upon the axle. The members g<3> can be replaced or removed from position by withconnected to collars g<7> on the skids'and to pins g<4> carried in the ends of V-shaped brackets g<5> drawing the pins g<4>, g<6>. At the rear, the fuselage is supported by a single central runner.
