9679. Bennetts, J. H. April 21. Barb, toothed, and like holding-devices for socket fixings.-A device for securing brooms, hammers, axes, &c. to their handles consists of a U-shaped member having hook-shaped handle-engaging spikes A, A<1>, and spikes B, B<1>, which are adapted to engage in or over the tool head and are carried upon longitudinal members secured to or forming part of the U-member at positions substantially removed from the spikes. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the members B, B<1>, which are adapted to engage with the top of the hammer or like head, are left unpointed.
