Pictures.-In pictures of the kind in which stereoscopic effects are produced by mounting in different planes the portions of the picture forming the various grounds, the several portions are mounted on glass and cardboard and arranged in an ordinary. picture-frame with distance-frames interposed between the grounds. The picture is first cut along the ground lines, and the front or foreground a is mounted on the back of a sheet of glass c carried in a suitable picture frame d. The next ground a<1> is mounted on cardboard f and arranged at a suitable distance behind the foreground by means of a distance frame e. Finally, the whole picture a<2>, mounted on a card f<1> and separated from the second ground by a second distanceframe e', forms the background, those portions of the picture which appear in the other grounds being painted out if desired.
