Tread bands, projections, and surfaces; tyre attachments to rims.-A protective cover for pneumatic tyres comprises a chain armour band 1 which is secured on the tyre by hooks 5, engaging beneath the rim flanges, and carries a smooth or non-skid tread band 12 attached by rivets 13. The chain mail is made smooth on both sides in a press. The hooks 5 are secured by links 4 to groups of links on the edges of the cover and preferably have spurs 9 entering into holes in the rim flanges.
