Abstract

5061. " Z " Electric Lamp Manufacturing Co., and Hoge, F. Feb. 28. Filaments, supports for; filaments, attaching; flaming-preventers.-Each conducting-arm B, having its free end welded or otherwise secured to the filament, is provided with an auxiliary support such as D, adapted to engage with the filament on the break-down of the ordinary joint. The support D is connected electrically to the arm B, and terminates in a loop or forked piece normally enclosing the adjacent filament section without touching it. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the auxiliary support is integral with the arm B, the spiral shown on the left being welded to form the joint on the right. The lower supporting-arms are of ordinary form, and preferably springy. Leading- in wires B<1>, Fig. 2, are made similarly. The auxiliary supports are stated to protect the filaments from the effect of discharges within the lamp.
