Abstract

4440. Baker, W. March 12, 1910. Breech actions. drop-down barrel.-Consists in placing the external means for cocking the hammer behind the top lever, and in the combination with a sliding hammer, of a lever which has a bent for engagement by the sear, and an exterior projection for hand cocking. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the lever 10, having the exterior projection 24, is pivoted to the trigger plate and to the rear end of the hammer 9. The mainspring 16 surrounds the hammer and bears against a fixed pin 13, which passes through a slot in the hammer.
