Abstract

4279. Harley, J. Feb. 23, 1910, [Convention date]. Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-Packing 19 for a pump or other piston or plunger is arranged between a shoulder 20 in the cylinder and a gland 21, which is adjusted by screwed rods 22 passing through stuffing-boxes in the cylinder cover, and provided with collars 25 which form bearings and additional packings for the rods. The gland 21 is formed with a coned flange and the shoulder 20 has a corresponding recess.
