Abstract

4263. Sharp, R. J. Aug. 19. Counting-apparatus.-Relates to arrangements wherein a word and folio counting-apparatus is operated by the space - bar of a typewriter. (1) The space-bar engages the arm 1 of a crank 2 secured to a rock-shaft 3 provided with an arm 8, which is connected by a link 10 to a bell-crank lever 13 on the counting-apparatus. The linkage is arranged so that the operation of the counting-apparatus requires only a small depression of the space-bar. The link 10 may be replaced by a yielding connexion consisting of a spiral spring. To permit adjustment of the arm 1 with regard to the space-bar, the arm 8 is connected to a crank 2 by means of a jawclutch. Friction rollers 7 may be provided on the arm 1. The counting-apparatus may be cut out by depressing a key-lever 37<1> on the rock-shaft 3. (2) The typewriter is secured by means of upstanding springs 35<1> on the base 6 of the counting-apparatus, the framework of the typewriter being arranged to engage notches 36' in the springs.
