Abstract
3334. Sueter, M. F., Boothby, F. L. M., and Paterson, H. G. Feb. 9. Systems, electric.-The ignition apparatus of an internal-combustion engine, particularly those used on aerial vessels, is used to produce electric oscillations for signalling. A magneto a or other generator is connected to the primary of a transformer b, whose secondary is connected to a condenser c. One side of the condenser is connected to an adjustable spark gap g and a distributor h through the primary d of a transformer, whose secondary e is connected to the aerial f. The distributor completes the circuit either through the ignition plugs i or a dummy plug i<1>, an earth return being used to the other side of the condenser. Signalling is effected by a key k arranged to short circuit the secondary e or a part thereof, or to open the aerial circuit.
