Abstract

2961. Higginson, J., and Arundel, H. Feb. 6. Creel arrangements.-In order to regulate the yarn or thread being delivered from a cheese or bobbin in a winding-machine, particularly a winding-machine in which a cop or conical bobbin is being wound, the cheese or bobbin is supported so that it is capable of movement towards or away from a sleeve, collar, or its equivalent beneath it, which acts as a brake. The sleeves b are arranged on a shaft a running the length of the machine, and the cheese c is supported in slotted arms d, which are adjustable about the shaft a to vary the pressure with which the cheese bears on the sleeve in accordance with the strength of the yarn being wound. The arms d may be straight or curved, the latter construction affording an easing of the tension of the yarn while the cheese is of large diameter. Specification 30,289/09 is referred to.
