W i n d i n g - machines.-In a drum winding - machine, the drum is formed of a number of independent segments, only one of which is positively driven for rotating the tube or conical bobbin. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the tube a is driven at its large end by the driven segment d of the drum c, a number of loose segments or disks e bearing upon the rest of the tube, and being driven by it. The drum may be cylindrical or conical.
