Abstract
2169. Brooking, F. G. C., and Dulcken, A. C. Jan. 27. Actuating.-A device for turning up and down gas lights by persons in bed or from a distance by a cord comprises a metal or other slotted member A which is secured to the plug of the tap by one or more thumb-screws C and carries wire or other extensions B, B' adapted to receive the operating-cords, wires, &c. which are guided at the walls by rings or staples. By suitably bending the long end B of the wire so that the end comes in contact with the wall, the device can be adjusted so that the gas can be lowered to any point without being extinguished, thereby enabling the gas light to be raised again without relighting. The wire extensions may, if desired, be formed integrally with the plug of the tap. Specifications 5473/81 and 15,238/89 are referred to.
