2028. Steinberg, J. Jan. 26. Air tubes and chambers. - A self - sealing air - tube a, comprising several rubber layers of different hardnesses, the innermost of which is not vulcanized and is in a pasty condition, is formed so as to have a circumferential depression near the rim when deflated, and is vulat canized or otherwise attached to the cover b at the tread and sides, the edges of the cover being left free, so that the tyre can be easily mounted on the rim. The tube is provided with a valve comprising a compressed rubber washer through which a hollow needle or the like on the pump is passed.
