1476. Bouverie, S. P., and Harding, A. W. G. Jan. 19. Shelves and shelf fittings.-Relates to a set of shelves F mounted on a frame E pivoted in a case as shown in Fig. 1. The frame may hang vertically in the case, or be supported in the position shown by means of a rod G, the ends of which slide in guides H, H' on the bottom of the case and on the lowest shelf respectively. The ends of the guides are recessed to allow the rod G to retain its position. Fig. 3 shows an alternative device for holding the shelves in the extended position. A rod G' is hinged to the bottom D of the case, and passes through a ring H<2> pivoted to a bracket H<3> carried by the lowest shelf F. A recess G<3> is provided in the rod, the shoulder G<5> of which forms a stop against which the ring H<2> rests. Fig. 5 shows a latch for fastening the doors of the case containing the shelves. The latch consists of a spring-pressed rocking bar K contained in a recess in the top of the case, and carrying bolts K<1>, K<2> at its ends. The bolt K<2> is adapted to engage in a recess in the top of one of the doors of the case, while the bolt K' engages frictionally with a plate M<1> secured to the other door M. When the door M is opened, the bar K rotates about its pivot under the influence of the spring L<1> and lifts the bolt K<2> from the door N.
