1284. Doran, L. R., and Taggart, A. Jan. 18. Jacks.-A portable hydraulic lifting-jack is adapted to be operated by water supplied from the ordinary supply mains without the use of a pump. The water is supplied to the ram cylinder through the hollow handle g and threeway valve h by means of a hose-pipe connected to the nozzle k. While attaching the hose, the nozzle k is placed in direct communication with the outlet l to prevent the escaping water from squirting over the operator.
