Abstract

Burglar alarms, - Mechanism is arranged within a lock casing for shooting out an auxiliary bolt and thereby closing an alarm circuit in the event of a false key being used. A bolt A is normally held inoperative against the action of a spring e' by means of a beilcrank D, a projection f on which engages a notch g in the bolt. If the bit of the key used to open the lock be too long, the bell-crank is actuated thereby, and the bolt A is allowed to shoot forward into the striking-plate F, where it closes electric contacts G or actuates a lever O, Fig. 8, for operating the tumbler o<2> of an electric-light switch. The bolt A can be withdrawn only by the correct key, an arm n on the bell-crank D preventing a false key from acting on the projection m. In a modified construction, wherein a follower is used to operate the latch from the inside, an extra arm on the follower may be used to withdraw the bolt A.
