The rotor is in the form of an inverted bell, the edges of which are amalgamated, and the rest of the surface varnished. The mercury reservoir E is made of moulded insulating material. One pole of the magnet extends into the bell so that the flux crosses the rotor only once. The jewels for the rotor spindle are mounted on springs, and a plug G is provided for closing the mercury reservoir during transit.
