Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. -A round - treaded tyre is 'provided with flatbottomed recesses 2 at the sides of the tread, the side walls of the recesses decreasing in depth towards the sides of the tread. The edges of the recesses are sharp. The recesses may be provided with metal or vulcanized fibre studs 8, such as are described in Specification 19,332/10. The continuous central tread 5 may also be provided with studs.
