Endless - chain elevators with comb carriers; discharging and feeding devices. - Relates to hoists of the kind in which buckets e are suspended from two endless chains c passing over top and bottom sprockets b, the buckets being so formed that they pass through a receiving-tray g at the bottom and pick up an article, which is in turn deposited on a similar discharging-tray h, i at the top. The trays are each made of two sets of interpenetrating arms, and one set of the discharging - tray i s pivoted and connected by an arm and link to a weighted bell - crank l e v e r, so that the bucket, on coming through the tray after depositing its end, abuts against the lever m and causes the set of arms i to tip the load on to a receiving-tray n. In a modification, where the receiving and discharge trays are on the same side, pins p on the end members of the buckets engage suitable inclines o and cause the buckets to tilt and discharge the load.
