Abstract

27,843. Lamkin, A. E., and Godwin, L. G. Nov. 30. Oil gas.-In the manufacture of oil gas, petrol or other hydrocarbon is supplied by a pipe A' to a vaporizer A consisting of a flat wavy tube heated by burners C<1> supplied with the gas generated through a branch pipe C<3>. The oil vapour is projected from nozzles B, one or more of which may be closed by caps B<4>, into receiving tubes E, each of which is provided with a stop cock E<1>. Each of the inlet tubes E is screwed into the stop cock to permit of adjustment of the air space to the corresponding nozzle B, and the nozzles may. be of different capacities. The air and vapour pass to a receiver D<1> having a branch pipe D provided with a relief valve F, and is led away for use. Pressure in the hydrocarbon tank supplying the apparatus is maintained by air which is admitted under pressure from a pressure chamber through a reducing - valve. The Provisional Specification describes also a branch pipe leading to a gas-holder, the relief valve being fitted upon this branch ; a back-pressure valve and wire gauze to prevent back-firing; and means for enclosing the vaporizer itself or the jet orifices, or both; and states that pressure may be produced in the petrol tank by a piston arrangement and weights.
