Abstract

Haymaking. - In swathturners, hay-collectors, &c. of the kind described in Specification 17,399/09, the tines are jointed and arranged so that they are raised or lowered out of or into action by engagement with a camtrack placed outside the joints. They are permanently arranged tangentially to the rake head, or are capable of swinging backwards in either direction into a tangential position as the rake head rotates. In the reversible form shown, the cam acts on the tines to retain them in their tangential positions and to adjust them simultaneously when the driving - gear is reversed. Each tine i is hinged on a bracket l, which is free to move laterally for a limited distance about a vertical pivot in a rotary frame or disk k. A projection on the tine bears against the fixed cam h. The raking-mechanism is supported from a countershaft a and suspended from the main frame c. It is driven by the bevel-and-chain gearing shown. The supporting-bracket g may be slipped off the countershaft a and the bevel-wheel e reversed, or reversing-gear may be employed. The raking- mechanism may be tilted.
