Abstract

25,861. Vail, R. W. Nov. 7. Fixed-abutment type, piston having sliding- rocking vanes. Relates to an engine or pump of the kind having a drum 18 revolubly mounted eccentrically within a cylinder 4 and engaging with a series of vanes 20 revolubly mounted concentrically within the cylinder, and consists in the provision of recesses 28, 29 in the end walls of the chamber forming chambers which connect the working spaces between the blades while they are expanding and contracting respectively. The working chamber is formed by a cylinder 4 gripped between annular recessed portions of end plates 2, 3 by bolts 7. The rotor fits in a recess 9 in the end plate 3, and its open end runs in a groove 19 in the end plate 2. The vanes are mounted upon a fixed spindle 26.
