Abstract

25,371. Maddick, S. W. Nov. 1. Lamps forming line of light. - Relates to lamps with shades adjustable to vary the distribution of the light, for illuminating pictures &c. The shade comprises a member 2 having a serrated edge 3 which gives a gradual shading of the light, and an adjustable member 6 which overlaps the serrated edge 3 and determines the limit of the illumination. The shademembers 2, 6 are preferably co-axial tubes. The tube 2 may be complete near the ends as shown, and is preferably closed by end plates. The tube 6 is partly cut away, and is bent back at 7, Fig. 3. It is secured in adjusted position by screws 9, and may carry an adjustable hinged flap 10, so that both limits of illumination are adjustable. In place of the flap 10, a second tube similar to 6 may be used to give the second adjustment, or the tube 6 may have adjustable flaps on both edges. The lamp is supported within the tube by clips 1, and the shade may be secured to supporting brackets by nuts 5.
