Abstract
24,706. Marks, E. C. R., [Aktieselskabet de Forenede Norske Laase & Beslagfabriker]. Oct. 24. Padlocks; lock mechamism, lever type.-In a shackleless padlock, the rotating bolt 3 is locked by means of spring tumblers 13, Fig. 1, or levers 25, 26, Fig. 4, engaging notches 7 in the disk-like enlargement 5 at the pivot end of the bolt. The tumblers &c. are operated by key-actuated segments 14 mounted on the boltpivot, the parts 18 of which act on the ends of the tumblers and release them from the notches 7 in the bolt. The segments 14 have their motion relative to the disk 5 limited by means of studs and slots 16 and move the bolt after the tumblers have been released. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the segment 14 is normally held locked by a tumbler 30 pivoted on the disk 5. This tumbler is released bv the key before this comes into position to turn the segment, and serves also to disengage the locking-lever 26, a separate segment for this lever being dispensed with. A series of levers and segments may be superposed one on the other.
