Abstract

24,405. Johnson, F. A. L. Oct. 21. Belt fastenings.-In a belt-fastening of the kind comprising slotted loop attachments carrying joint pins, each with a reduced central portion for engaging a hole in a connecting-link, the holes in the link I are of approximately the same size as the outer portions or heads 3 of the joint pins and the thickness of the metal between the holes, and the sides 6, 7 of the links is less than between the holes and the ends 8, 9 of the link. Stops are arranged at the ends of the slots in the attachments A, B, and the arrangement is such that when the link and attachments are in line the stop abuts against the end of the link and keeps the reduced portion of the pins against the sides of the holes in the link thereby preventing the parts from becoming detached. By turning one of the attachments at right-angles to the link, as shown in Fig. 3, the hole in the link may be brought into register with the head of the pin and the parts separated. The stop 10 may be struck up from one or both sides of the attachment, or the ends of the slots may form the stop. A slot in the side of the link may serve to form the reduced portion, and be made to register with a stop or projection to allow the separation of the parts. The attachment may be formed from a blank with ear portions projecting from the looped belt-embracing part which serves as the stop. The heads of the pins may be oval or other shape, the holes in the links being correspondingly formed. One end only of the link may be made detachable.
