Ruling machines and appliances. -For ruling both transverse and longitudinal lines on both sides of a continuous web, the web passes round impression cylinders 2, 2<1>, and is ruled transversely by the grooved rollers 12, 12<1>, which receive ink from the colour - rollers 14, 14<1>, and longitudinally by the spaced ruling-disks 5, 5<1>, which receive ink from the colour - rollers 8, 8<1>. The ruling - devices are mounted on forked levers such as 11,11<1>, so that they may be brought out of contact with the paper as desired; and excess colour is removed from the colour-rollers by strips of felt or flannel such as 10, 10<1>.
