Abstract
24,140. Stevenson, J. Oct. 18. Screw motors; reversing.-A screw motor is constructed with a shaft a upon which is mounted a cylindrical drum c and a conical drum d. Between these drums are arranged blades c<3> to form helical channels of gradually increasing cross-section. Motive fluid is admitted through a port e and exhausts into a port f. When the motor is required to be reversible,. an additional set of blades d<2> are arranged upon the exterior of the drum d, and are used alternatively to the blades c<3>. Motive fluid is admitted through a port at the opposite end of the rotor, and exhausts into a port f<1>. A reversing-valve e<2> admits steam to the inner and outer blades alternatively.
