Separating liquids from one another by density; separators for gaseous substances.-An apparatus for separating dust from air, also applicable as a steam-separator or for separating liquids of different densities, consists of a vane-wheel or the like, through which the materials to be treated are forced from the outside. The heavier materials are thrown out by the wheel, and the lighter pass to the centre and are drawn off. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 3, air is drawn through the rotating vanewheel a by the fan m, dust &c. being thrown out into the casing k.
