Abstract
22,863. Still, C. Oct. 3. Surface condensers; mineral oils and tars, distilling.-A condenser for mixtures of hydrocarbons with steam, for use in the distillation of benzene from the oil used for washing coal-gas, comprises a cylinder containing condensing tubes b, a condensing worm f, a cooling-worm d for the liquid resulting from condensation in the tubes b, and a collecting and decanting chamber below having separate outlets k, l for water and benzene. An overflow device e is provided to keep the cooling- worm d full of liquid. Undistilled wash-oil is used for cooling the tubes b.
