Abstract
320,135. Ward, P. J., Mitchell, J., and Steel Bros. & Co., Ltd. June 14, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Hydrocarbons, distilling.-In distilling and fractionating oils, the latent heat of steam is used to distill off the more volatile fractions, while the less volatile are distilled by the aid of mercury vapour. A 10 unit plant comprises evaporators A<1> - - A<10> preferably of the Kestner type, the evaporators A' - - A' being heated by steam, while the evaporators A<8> - - A<10> are heated by mercury vapour supplied from a main J and led off by a main J<1>. The evaporators A<2> - - A<10> are connected to preheaters B<2> - - B<10> in which the crude oil entering through a pipe G and heatexchanger H<1>, is heated by the vapours, and the preheaters B<5> - - B<10> are connected to barometric condensers E<5> - - E<10> having a common outlet L leading to a covuum pupm F. The vapours expelled from the crude oil are led through a common outlet main to condensers C<2>, C<3>, C<4>, and D<2>. The vapours from the evaporator A<1> are passed to a tower C<1>, which condenses kerosene while petrol is condensed in a condenser D<1>.
