Abstract

20,075. New Oil Refining Process, and Neilson, R. G. Sept. 3. Hydrocarbon oils, cracking. - An apparatus for converting mineral oil into volatile spirit or petrol, particularly by the process described in Specification 13,675/08, in which oil and water are admitted to a heated retort packed with scrap iron, comprises a vertical or nearly vertical retort 1 from which a pipe 12 leads vapours to a reflux condenser 13 in which the heavier constituents of the vapour are condensed, the uncondensed volatile spirit passing to a condenser 16. The retort is fed with mineral oil, liquid from the condenser 13, and water by pipes 6, 20, and 9 respectively. Unvaporized oil flows away by a pipe 22
